Alvaro H. Castañeda, 89, of Johnson City, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at the L.B.J. Medical Center in Johnson City, Texas. He was born in Carrizo Springs, Texas to Romana & Juan Castañeda.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a bus driver retiree from Via Metropolitan Transit of San Antonio after 38 years of service. His love for country living, ranch life and traveling never surpassed his immense love for his family. He loved his family dearly and will be truly missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Florinda C. Zambrano of San Antonio.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Menira H. Castañeda of Johnson City; Daughters, Yvonne C. Morin & son-in-law Gene Morin of Austin and Sonia Castañeda of Johnson City. As well as his sister, Nico & Arturo Juarez of San Marcos and brothers; Juan & Dora Castañeda of Bastrop and Luis & Nelida L. Castañeda of San Antonio. Granddaughter, Victoria "Tori" Morin of Austin and sister-in-law Lucy Hernandez of Johnson City. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Croft-Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018.  The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church located at 285 US 281 Loop Road, Johnson City, Texas 78636. Interment to follow at the Johnson City Masonic Cemetery.
