Obituary

Angelia Kayye Stearns , 73, of Johnson City, Texas went to be with our Lord on January 21, 2023. Angie grew up in East Mountain, Texas and graduated from Corsicana High School in 1967. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from North Texas State University in 1971 and a Master's Degree in Counseling from Pan American University in 1983. She married George Stearns on May 27, 1978.

Angie was an amazing woman of God. She always loved fiercely and supported people in any way she could, from signs for sporting events to band boosters. She blessed many students as the elementary counselor for 16 years at Johnson City ISD. She loved crafting in her spare time and always had a project going from sewing, embroidery, quilting, painting, and everything in between.

She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Bettie Jo Bowden and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by her loving husband George Stearns and children Charles Lincoln (Chuck) Stearns and wife Elizabeth, and Cathryn Annah (Cathy) Slavin and husband Sean; grandchildren Tucker Asfeld, Hunter Stearns, Aspen Stearns, Carter Stearns, Abigail Slavin and S.J. Slavin; brother Danny Bowden and wife Barbara, and sisters Teri Clakley and Vicki Morehead; many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Angie did not care much to be the center of attention, but loved to celebrate those who were—weddings, birthdays, or even just because you came around to visit. Her joys in life always included making others feel special and cared for. She was always very intentional about that. From Patricia Cornwell comes this quote: "At some level we intend everything we do." Even now, she intends for us to carry her memory with meaning and purpose as enrichment to our lives.
