Obituary

On Monday, July 24, 2017, Anna Lou Felps of Johnson City entered eternal life in heaven at the astounding age of 101.  Anna Lou was born June 1, 1916 on a small family farm along Miller Creek in Blanco County.  She attended the local school until she was old enough to work in the fields to help support her family.  Anna Lou married Robert Benjamin (Bob) Felps Sr and raised 3 children.  After her children were out of school she entered Durham Business College and obtained an associates degree in accounting and bookkeeping.  She spent many years working for Weirich Concrete, T&D Western Wear, and Felps Trailer Manufacturing.   She was very active in the Methodist Church of Johnson City, where she served as the financial secretary of the church for more than 20 years, and was a member of the Methodist Women's group and the choir.  Anna Lou worked hard for many years and enjoyed her retirement by traveling all over the world. Anna Lou "Granny", was an avid supporter of all the endeavors of her grand-children, great grand-children and great great-grand-children. No matter how far the travel or weather conditions, she always arrived at band contests, stock shows, sporting and academic events with her video recorder and camera in hand.  Although Anna Lou had many hobbies and interests, she most enjoyed crocheting afghans for family members, baking, and making homemade jams and jellies.  Anna Lou is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Pellar and Bettie Henslee, her husband, "Bob" Felps, three sisters, Susie Pellar, Delzie Bowles, and Marie Taylor, one son R.B. Felps, and one grandchild Travis Carpenter.  She is survived by one sister, Pauline Hancock, two children Jo Ann Carpenter and Thomas Felps, 5 grand-children, 7 great grand-children, and 2 great great-grand-children, and numerous nieces and nephews.
