Obituary

Arless Rose, 86, passed away March 20, 2006 in the Kerrville VA Hospital. During WW II he served his country well. He enlisted in the Army in 1941. He was in the 341st Engineers. Before going overseas he was part of an advanced survey crew that surveyed ahead of the actual building of the Alcan Highway. Following this Mr Rose was sent to Europe where he went on to fight in five major battles including the Battle of the Bulge, the largest battle fought by the American Army. He was detached to a special unit from the Engineers in England where they planned the Battle of France. He had the honor of talking with General Eisenhauer and General Patton. After the war he returned to Johnson City. In 1992, as part of the 50th Anniversary of the Alcan Highway, there was a sign erected at Watson LakeVisitors Center honoring the 341st Engineers of the American Army. In 1946 he married Dorothy Leeders Yett. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Irmalee and her husband, Louis Neill of Port Lavaca; two grandchildren, Kathrin and her husband Calvin Embry, and Trevor Neill; and a special dog, "Tiny".Funeral services will be held 10:00 Thursday, March 23 at Crofts Funeral Home in Blanco with Rev W.B. Hiller officiating. Burial will follow in the Comfort Cemetery.
