Arlin Leland Dowdy , 78, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at his home in Blanco, TX, surrounded by family. Mr. Dowdy was born April 10, 1940 in Kendall County, TX to George Leslie Dowdy and Dovie Anna (Gourley) Dowdy. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son Arlin Leslie Dowdy; three brothers, Monroe Dowdy, Ray Dowdy, and Gilbert Dowdy; five sisters, Dorothy Belliveau, Marjorie Dietert, Anna Louise Harbarth, Fay Dowdy, and Jessie Mae Savage.

Arlin is survived by his loving wife Alice (Haag) Dowdy; three children, Tracy Mercer, Christopher Dowdy and wife Jessica, Jennifer Miles and husband Bryan; four grandchildren, Jacob Mercer, Sadie Cheyenne Mercer, Gweneth Dowdy, and McKenna Miles; three siblings, Irene Pancake, Gerald and Barbara Dowdy, Kelly and Linda Dowdy; Nieces & Nephews: Rocky Dietert, Roxie Smeal, Ronnie Dowdy, Gail Neas, Larry Harbarth, Shirley Saunders, Terry Cox, Iris Wright, Gordon Dowdy, Clinton Dowdy, and their families; many dear friends, and five beloved 4-legged friends.

He was a tall, straight and lanky fellow, and never knew a stranger, could talk for hours and had a story for everyone. His favorite profession for 50+ years was as a self-employed contractor, custom cabinet maker, and in custom hardwood floors.

Some of his many joys included: drinking coffee and reading the newspaper, hunting, fishing, feeding the ducks, eating catfish on Fridays at the bowling alley, wine-making, eating out, country dancing, bowling, being with family and friends, watching his grandkids, weekend excursions, watching his kids' accomplishments, and all aspects of life.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Blanco. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Carlos Cloyd officiating.
