Obituary

Betty Nell Shipp (Harris) much loved and cared for wife of Douglas B. Shipp fell asleep in death Thursday evening, September 22, 2005 after many years of ill health. Betty was born in Mexia Texas, September 10, 1929. Betty is survived by her husband, Douglas B. Shipp of Granite Shoals, TX., her three daughters: Brenda K. Feindel of Cedar Park, TX, Holly Shipp-Griffith of Granite Shoals, TX., and Trina G. Heidolph of Pflugerville, TX., and four grandchildren: April M. Farren, J.D. Rogers, Aubree E. Griffith and Brandi K. Maddox, and two great grandchildren: Courtnie L. Swope and Devoney Harper Farren.During Betty's 30+ years in Blanco County, she was instrumental in bringing about the Blanco Volunteer EMS, played a part in the opening of the Blanco Museum in the old Courthouse in the early 70's, she was active in supporting 4-H and Blanco City political issues.Betty is also survived by her three sisters: Mary Jo Gordon and family of Huffman, TX., Demetra Thomas and family of Pasadena, TX., and Nonnie Reddick of San Antonio, TX.For those wishing to pay last respects, viewing will be available Tuesday, September 27, 2005 from 10:00 to 8:00 pm at the Crofts Funeral Home on 911 Mesquite Street in Blanco. There will be an open-casket graveside service at the McGregor Cemetery in McGregor Texas, Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at 1:00 pm. The McGregor Cemetery is a long time family resting place for the Harris family.
