Billie Jean Beck Kutzer , a beloved member of our community, passed away on February 24, 2025, in San Antonio. Born in San Antonio on August 25, 1956, to Billie Joe Beck and Emma Jeanette (Sean) Beck, she grew up in the beautiful town of Blanco, Texas.

After graduating from Blanco High School in 1974, Billie Jean went on to have an incredible life filled with love and adventure. She married Alvin E. Kutzer in 1981 after a whirlwind blind date, and together they built a wonderful life, raising four children and sharing nearly 44 years of laughter and love.

Billie Jean made history as the first female cadet to graduate from the police academy in San Marcos, Texas. After a few years in law enforcement she became a stay at home mom. Once the kids were grown and off on their own adventures, she embraced a fulfilling 20-year career in home health, caring for others.

In her downtime, Billie Jean was a creative spirit—whether she was quilting, painting, or whipping up delicious meals for family and friends, she poured her heart into everything she did. She took pride in her writing skills and was a published author, with a book and a few screenplays to her name, and wrote many articles for Blanco County News and also worked as their office manager.

Billie Jean was a multi-generation Blanco resident and loved the town's history. She was an active member of the Blanco community serving as board member and member of the Twin Sisters Historic Dance Hall and chairman of the Blanco Historic Preservation Commission.

Billie Jean is preceded in death by her father, Billie Joe Beck, but she leaves behind an incredible legacy. She is survived by her husband, Alvin; her mother, Emma Jeanette Pyatt; her four children, Kevin (Jennifer), Misty (David), Mindy (Michael), and Marcy (Billy Teague); as well as her nine adored grandchildren: Nicholas, Kate, Elliot, Brady, Parker, Caroline, Henry, Tiberious, and Carsyn. Billie also cherished her siblings, Joyce Pyatt, Larry Pyatt, Linda Pyatt (Gary Muetzelfeld), and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Blanco County EMS, many caregivers and doctors that helped support her throughout her illness.

We will come together to honor Billie Jean's amazing life at a memorial service on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 4 p.m. The service at Rust Family Chapel, 769 Forest View Dr., Blanco, TX 78606 with a reception to follow.
