Bruce Elgin Zbytovsky of Johnson City, Texas passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Audie L. Murphy Veterans Memorial Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Bruce, as he was best known, was born January 1, 1943 in Barberton, Ohio to Arthur A. and Ione Sherwood Zbytovsky. He grew up in Barberton until joining the United States Army in 1961 where discharged after receiving an on-base injury. Bruce spent time with the Peace Corps in West Africa where he adopted 3 children as returning home. Over the course of his life, Bruce experienced many different trades, the last being an auto body repairman; he also served on volunteer fire departments. He enjoyed life and was eager to experience all it had to offer. He and his family relocated to Blanco County in mid-1985.
To know Bruce was to know his love for his family and teaching his children all he knew. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Zbytovsky; children Troy of Oklahoma, David of Balch Springs, TX, Tina of Hutto, TX, Michael (Jessica) of Rhome, TX, Tracy (Martin) Sauceda of Blanco, TX, Tokpa (Emily) of Johnson City, TX, Brad (Katherine) Davis of Johnson City, TX, Elizabeth (Bill) Fouts of Justin, TX, Tanya (Nathan) Stevens of Blanco, TX, Jed of Spring Branch, TX.; his brother, Roger (Birgit) of Columbia, SC, sisters, Dawn (Ron) O'Halek of Weirton, WV, and Kareen (Ed) Poholski of Rittman, OH, plus 21 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, step-children, foster brothers and sisters and friends.
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ione, sister, Victoria, and son, Terry.
A private family service is pending following cremation.
