Carlene Clem Hale , 75, of Johnson City passed away on December 6, 2022 at home with her daughter at her side. Carlene was born in Dallas to Harlin and Anona Clem and raised in Houston. She was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband of 34 years, Lloyd D. Hale. Carlene is survived by her daughter, Terri Rodgers, her son-in-law, Derick Rodgers, her granddaughter, Zoe, her grandsons, Evan "Mac" and Lucas, and friends near and far.
Carlene and Lloyd relocated from Florida to Johnson City in 1996 once Lloyd retired from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren in San Antonio. Carlene and Lloyd quickly involved themselves in the local community. Shortly after arriving, Carlene joined Blanco County EMS as a paramedic where she served for many years and later proudly taught new generations of EMTs at Oak Hill Fire Academy. In 2005, the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce named Carlene its Citizen of the Year. When time allowed Carlene spent time with her grandchildren, tending to her quilting and gardening hobbies, and the community of friends including those at the First United Methodist Church
A gathering to celebrate Carlene's life is being planned for January 2023.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seton Fund, 1201 W. 38 th Street, Austin, Texas 78705 designated to Seton Heart Specialty Care & Transplant Center.
