Obituary

Celestino "Choppy" Romero, Jr. was born in Hondo, Texas on April 12, 1953 to Celestino "Tino" Romero, Sr. and Maria Gracia Romero.  He was called home to be with The Lord on December 31, 2021 at the young age of 68.  He was a graduate of the 1972 Blanco High School Class, in Blanco, Texas.  The community knew Celestino as Choppy.  He married the love of his life Sylvia Perez on April 17, 1982.  Together they have 3 sons and 3 grandchildren.

Choppy was owner of Reliable Fencing for 40 years and truly believed in serving people.  He served the community on the Blanco County 4H/FFA Youth Council Committee for 15 years, coached little league for 5 years, served as a soccer referee and coach for 5 years, coached Pop Warner football for 3 years, and served on the Yett Park Committee for 10 years.  Under Choppy's leadership as President of Yett Park Committee he assisted with acquiring a grant to cover the pavilion at the park.  He also volunteered with the local Boy Scout Troop and was instrumental with helping a scout earn their Eagle Scout status.

Choppy is survived by his wife Sylvia Perez Romero, son Heriberto Ray Romero and wife Dari Romero of Jacksonville, Florida, son Celestino Romero III of Blanco, and son Joseph Trey Romero of Fort Worth.  He is also survived by his beautiful grandchildren; Maddison Michelle Romero, Jace Gabriel Romero, and Jessie Gabriela Romero.

Choppy leaves his brothers behind; Donnie Romero of Blanco, Abel Romero, wife Sharon Romero of Blanco, and Bobby Romero, wife Teresa Romero of Canyon Lake.

Choppy also leaves his in-laws behind; Dee Perez Tesch, husband Peter Tesch of Merrill, Wisconsin, and Charles Anthony Perez of Wausau, Wisconsin.  Choppy will be greatly missed by his extended family, Robbie Camacho, wife Addie Camacho of San Antonio, Denise Camacho Lefkowitz, husband Bill Lefkowitz of Florida, and Roy Camacho, wife Alma Camacho of San Antonio.  He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews on both sides of the family who will miss him dearly.

Choppy was preceded in death by both of his parents, Celestino "Tino" Romero and Maria Gracia Romero, maternal grandparents, and paternal grandparents.

Visitation services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Blanco, TX, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022.  Pastor Adrian Compton from San Antonio, Texas will be officiating the service at the church and will begin at 11:30 a.m.
