Charles Woodly Haley was born July 18, 1930 in Johnson City, Texas, and passed away April 6, 2005 at the age of 74 years.Woodly married Reba Sue Grisham May 31, 1952 at the First Methodist Church in Johnson City, Texas, living and loving in marriage for over 52 years.Woodly was preceded in death by his sister, Opal Varga.Woodly is survived by his wife Sue, his three sons and their families: Greg and his wife Annie, of Burnet; Scott of Johnson City; and Cole and his wife Bambi, of Austin; eight grandchildren: Chase, Kasey, Callie, Justin, Ashley, Kerri, Kyndal, and CharLea; two great-grandchildren: Zorin and Kamryn; one sister: Billie Jean Kellaney.Woodly was born and raised in Johnson City, graduating from Johnson City High School in 1948. Woodly played on the basketball team that made three consecutive appearances in the State High School Basketball Tournament from 1946 through 1948. The 1947 team won the Class B State High School Basketball Championship. Woodly was named to the Class "B" All-State Tournament team in 1947 and 1948.After graduation from high school, Woodly served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorary discharge from the Army, he began work for the then-Texas Highway Department and later the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation (currently the Texas Department of Transportation) until his retirement in 1992. Woodly was employed in various capacities throughout his career until his retirement, serving the last 20 years as Maintenance Foreman for the Blanco County Maintenance Section.Pallbearers were Will Dahmann, Kyle Fiero, James Haley, Lance Haley, Zachary Hudler, Stanley Kent, James Ross Leonard and Chad Wilhite.Honorary pallbearers were "The Coffee Shop Crew".
