Obituary

Charles Max Lechow (78) known by all who loved him as Charlie, went to be with Our Lord and Savior on June 10, 2023 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Blanco, Texas on October 18, 1944 and grew up in nearby Boerne. Charlie attended Elementary and Junior High in Bulverde and graduated from Boerne High School in 1963. Mr. Lechow attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, and then joined the United States Army on January 19, 1966, where he served his Country for 6 years.

Charlie worked for Northside School District in San Antonio, Texas. He moved to Cypress Mill, Texas in 1988. He worked for Cypress Mill Ranch as a Ranch Manager where he retired in 2019. He enjoyed his time on the ranch as he took care of all the ranch needs, including managing the game program.  The program included feeding and medical for livestock as well as fencing, maintaining feeders and the inventory for all exotic wildlife. He managed all work on the ranch including maintenance of all equipment, structures and utilities. In addition, Charlie organized and participated in all entertainment. Cypress Mill Ranch frequently held company parties where he enjoyed barbecuing his famous chicken with his secret BBQ sauce. This secret sauce will always remain just that …a SECRET.

Charlie loved his family gatherings, Annual Easter Fish Fries, dancing and singing along to his old country music. You would often see him grabbing the closest thing around to use as his guitar, as he sang in to his imaginary microphone. He loved attending family reunions, hunting deer, and dove, riding bulls, raising hay, and tending to his own cattle. He had a huge love for his dogs, Lady and Dusty. Charlie would always tell Faye he loved his dogs more than he loved her. He always looked forward to vacationing, some of his favorite trips included Ruidoso, New Mexico, Branson, Missouri, Florida and Las Vegas.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; Rose Lee and George Lechow, Aunt and Uncle Sylvia and Rudolph Lechow, his stepmother Bernice Moore, his sister Dorothy, brother-in-law Thomas Abadie and grandson Jordan Gonsoulin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Melody Faye Lechow. His sons, Shane and wife Merideth Lechow of Round Mountain Texas and Kevin and wife Sara Smith of Johnson City Texas.His daughters, Becky and husband Troy Danz, Tabitha and husband Johnny Slawinski both of Johnson City Texas. Cindy and husband Jesse Castillo of Fredericksburg Texas. Sisters, Lois Ann and husband Terrell Norris and Lora Mae both of Boerne, Texas. 18 grandchildren; Roger Ruiz, Kayla Rivas, Jesse and Hanna Castillo, Josh Danz, Tuckier and Max Lechow, Journey Gonsoulin, Johnny and Jagger Slawinski, Connor and Cheyenne Smith, Kaylee and Kiera Roeder, and Madelyn, Kylie, Peyton Allen. 6 great children, Sabastian Castillo, Tatum, Willow and Oaklyn Gonsoulin, Wylder Ramirez and Mia Rivas. Charlie is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. As well as a huge circle of friends and family whom he loved dearly.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday 10am, June 17,2023 at Liberty Lighthouse Fellowship in Johnson City Texas located at 321 Old River Crossing Road.  Join the family immediately following for a remembrance.
