Charlotte Gay Johnson , 82, of Johnson City, Texas, passed away at her home on April 14, 2024.

She was born August 10, 1941, in Eufaula, Alabama, to John Christopher Gay, Jr. and Mildred Saliba Gay. The family made their home in Georgetown, Georgia, until relocating to Cameron, Texas. Charlotte adapted well to the move and soon became involved in the Yoe High School band playing clarinet while using other artistic talents as a member of the newspaper staff. In 1959 she graduated as Valedictorian of her Yoe High School class.

Afterwards, Charlotte earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Sam Houston State and taught first and second grades for several years in the Houston schools. Except for her first fifteen years in Georgia and three years at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, Charlotte continued to live in Texas----San Marcos, Gruene, Blanco, and her final home in the hill country near Johnson City. During those many years she never lost her southern accent.

Charlotte is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Hugh Douglas Johnson; daughter, Deidre Daniels (Kyle) Armstrong of Spring; 4 grandchildren: Katherine, Charis, Daniel, and John Armstrong; 3 stepsons; 5 step-grandchildren and 4 step- great grandchildren; sister, Susan (Ronald) Bosarge, Quitman, MS, and brother, Paul (Hannah) Gay, Ridgeland, MS; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Christopher "Chris" Gay, III and nephew, Chris Gay, IV.

A memorial service honoring Charlotte's life will be held at Abundant Grace Fellowship, 650 FM 165, Blanco, TX 78606, Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Pastor J.D. Link officiating.
