Osterhout
Aug 10, 1947 — Feb 2, 2025
Blanco
Danny Lee Osterhout , 77, of Andrews, TX, passed away at home after a lengthy illness on Saturday, February 2, 2025 in Blanco, TX.
Family and Friends will gather to celebrate his life at 11:00AM, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanco, TX with pastor David Mayer officiating.
Born in Independence, KS to Leo Charles Osterhout and wife Esther on August 10, 1947, Danny spent the majority of his life in Andrews, TX. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968 working mainly in nuclear weapons training.
After his honorable discharge from the USMC, Danny returned to Andrews to work with his father at Magneto Service & Supply, the family business which his father started in 1952. Danny served the Andrews community in many ways and was appointed by then Governor Rick Perry in 2008 to serve on the Texas Commission on Human Rights and held this position until 2013. After selling Magneto Service, which was family run for 63 years, Danny & Julie retired to Blanco, TX in 2013 to be close to their children and grandchildren.
As a proud conservative and fierce patriot, Danny was always willing to engage in a lively debate on the current state of affairs in our nation. He dearly loved being a grandfather, often imparting tidbits of "old school" knowledge on his grandkids, grandnieces, and grandnephew. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanco, a member of the Trinity Security Team and Christian Men of Blanco. He particularly loved serving on the security team during Vacation Bible School.
He was preceded in death by both parents and his brother Jimmy Gale Osterhout.
Danny is survived by his wife, Julie Osterhout; nephew Charles Hotchkin & wife Kendra; stepson Brian Jeffreys; stepdaughter Mandy McWilliams & husband Austin; grandchildren Jeffrey & Presley McWilliams; grandnieces and grandnephew Alexis, Ainsley, Riley & Rory Hotchkin.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed in Danny's name to The Trinity Security Team, c/o Trinity Lutheran Church, 703 Main Street, Blanco, TX 78606.
