Obituary

David Jay Danz was born on October 17, 1961 in Keidel Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg, TX. He is a 5 th generation descendent of Casper Danz, who immigrated from Germany to help settle Fredericksburg. He went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2022. He lived his entire life in Johnson City, surrounded by family and friends and boy was he proud to be a Texan!

He is survived by his wife Martha Jane Danz, his children, Jayme Danz Roschetzky (husband Devin), Dayton Jay Danz (fiancé Shelby Harper), Kelly Jayne Danz (boyfriend Kevin Noble), his grandchildren, Maddie and Landyn, mother, Sandra Danz, sister Tracy Danz, mother-in-law Jane Mills, brother and sister-in-law Eric and Terry Mills, nieces, nephews, cousins and a ton of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Roger Danz, his father-in-law Tom Mills, and his grandparents, Jay and Lucy Danz and Paul and Opal Weirich.

David attended LBJ school system for 12 years. He graduated from LBJ High School in 1980. He attended Central Texas College and Southwest School of Electronics and thus began his career in the field of electronics. He worked for Corral Vending in Marble Falls, G&M Television in Oak Hill, Texas Department of Transportation Traffic Signal Division in Austin and Paradigm Traffic in Arlington. As a signal technician, he became known as "DD". DD traveled the entire state helping city and state offices with traffic signal installations and troubleshooting. He would tell stories about his travels and would proudly say he had been to every county in the state more than once. He loved his work with TxDOT and Paradigm and would say if you love what you do, it's not considered work. He considered ALL of his TxDOT and Paradigm coworkers his family.

David obtained his private pilot license and had a strong love for flying. His interest in electronics led him to become a ham radio operator. But, his biggest love was his family. He and Martha met in the first grade and were best friends in high school. They were married for 37 years. Being with his family were his happiest times—family vacations, summer beach trips, family barbeques, and his big hugs were the best and he will be greatly missed.
