Deborah Kay
Holder
Dec 9, 1954 — Jan 22, 2022
Kyle
Deborah Kay Holder was born in Baton Rouge, LA on December 9, 1954 to Joe Mansour and Glynis (Sankey) Mansour. Debbie fell asleep in Christ on January 22, 2022 in Kyle, TX. Although the family spent several years in Louisiana, for the most part, Debbie grew up in south Austin. She graduated from Crockett High School in May 1972. Debbie married her high school sweetheart Donnie Holder on July 1, 1972—less than two months after they both graduated from Crockett.
Debbie and Donnie spent their 49 years of married life doing most everything together. They established their own business and worked alongside each other every day. Their skill sets complemented each other. Donnie did the technical aspects of the business while Debbie handled the office administration and the bookkeeping. They played sports together. They both enjoyed bowling, softball, golfing, fishing, snow-skiing, RV-ing to the coast, the mountains, or just about anywhere. One of Debbie's favorite places to travel was to Hawaii. Debbie and Donnie took several trips there and Debbie also took an occasional girls' trip there with her mom and aunts.
Debbie and Donnie took great pride in together raising their only child, Aaron Holder. Aaron and his wife Samantha blessed them with three beautiful grandsons, Carter, Isaac, and Elijah. Debbie loved spending time with them camping. She especially enjoyed attending their baseball, basketball and soccer games.
Debbie and Donnie's life together was a beautiful example of two lives becoming one. What happened to one happened to the other. This was especially evident during Debbie's illness. They traveled this difficult road together—literally and figuratively. They had many, many trips back and forth from Kyle to Houston for treatment. During this very trying experience, Debbie remained strong and upbeat for Donnie. Donnie in turn was an incredible care giver—so attentive and caring to all of Debbie's needs. Together they were that rare example of agape—perfect love—self-sacrificing love.
Debbie had an incredibly close relationship with her Aunt Marilyn who was at times like a mother, at other times like an older sister but always her best friend. Marilyn was of tremendous comfort to Debbie during her illness--assisting Donnie in so many ways to care for Debbie. Just hearing Marilyn's voice would bring a smile to Debbie's face.
Her brother Ronnie and sister-in-law Yvonne were extremely attentive throughout Debbie's cancer battle from day 1. From having dinner prepared when they returned from Houston week after week to being by her bedside addressing her every need. Providing that loving care and unselfishly giving of themselves in any circumstances.
Debbie is predeceased by her dad, Joe Mansour and her mom Glynis (Sankey) Kearney. She leaves behind her husband Donnie; son Aaron and his wife Samantha and their sons Carter, Isaac, and Elijah; her brother Ronnie Mansour and his wife Yvonne; her aunt Marilyn Dildy and cousins Sheri Dildy and Tracy Barrett and her husband Jimmy, as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Brian Vaillant, neuro-oncologist with Texas Oncology; the staff at MD Anderson in Houston; Courtney, Annette, and Anna of Amedisys Hospice; and Donna, Violeta, Madelyn, and the entire staff of Orchard Park Assisted Living and Memory Care for all of the care given and compassion shown to Debbie.
