Obituary

Delman Wray Barker (aka "Peepaw"), 78, of Blanco passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018, at his residence in Blanco surrounded by his loving family.

Delman was born in Blanco, Texas on July 27, 1939 to Horace Damon and Mary Alice Barker who precedes him in death and is survived by his wife of Anna Marie Lindemann Barker of Blanco; son, Damon Wray Barker of Reno, Nevada; daughter, Sabra Renee McDonald and her husband, Keith of Blanco; granddaughter, Symbri McCarroll of Wimberley, Texas; sister, Betty Woolsey of Blanco;; mother-in-law, Otilie Lindemann also known as "Mama Tillie" of Johnson City.

Delman and Anna were married September 20, 1957, in San Marcos, Texas and were married sixty years and eight months.  In 1975 they married in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.  Delman is a 1957 graduate of Blanco I.S.D. and a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.  His passion besides his family was guns and deer hunting.  He made many, many hunting trips out of state and Southwest Texas.  Loved his deer lease on the Granberg Ranch for twenty years and made hundreds of pounds of sausage in his unique workshop.  He also liked Stetson Western Hats and handmade boots.  Delman went to work with his dad at Barker Motor Company at age 9 and later owned Barker Motor Company for twenty-four years and was co-owner with Charles Waxler in the Muffler Warehouse for seventeen years.  He was a lifelong member of the Blanco Bowling Club and is in the Bowling Club Hall of Fame.  In his earlier years he was a volunteer for the Blanco Fire Department and chief bean cooker for Blanco Fire Department and EMS Fundraisers for many years.  He enjoyed meeting his buddies at the bar in the afternoons for a cold refreshment and "B.S." about issues of great importance.  Delman and Annie were known to go dancing with all their friends for approximately thirty years around the Blanco area.  A great man will be greatly missed.

A visitation will take place from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2018, at Croft-Crow Funeral Home in Blanco with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Blanco with burial to follow at Blanco Historical Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Paul Goodrich, Lynn Maly, George Pearce, Charles Waxler, Norman Weaner, and Johnny Wood.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Russell Schneider, Roy Finch, Tim Bell, Ron Wilson and the Senior Class of 1957.
