Obituary

Dennis Edward Petticrew , also known as "Pappy", went to meet his Creator early on December 22, 2024, after a brief and turbulent fight with cancer.  Pappy was surrounded by his loving family in the days preceding his ascension.  Dennis was a wise man who cherished his faith, his family, fishing, and Denver Broncos Football.  If you were searching to find Dennis for an intellectual conversation or one of his famous "Free advice (take it or leave it)" quotes, you would just have to listen for his joyful whistling to find him. Dennis could be found in his garden, working with bees, exercising with his Labrador retriever, listening to classical operatic or Christian music, reading, or planning his next camping or fishing trip.

Dennis received a degree in Chemistry from Colorado University and he was a lifelong lover of science and nature.  Pappy taught himself to code and program computers back when they were first invented and made a lifetime career out of this passion with Petticrew Pawnbroker Systems.  Dennis was a humble man, despite being the smartest man in the room most times. He will be forever remembered for his compassion, good nature, friendliness, kindness, generosity, and dedication to his family and to the Lord.

Pappy is preceded in death by his loving parents Patsy and Lloyd Petticrew, Donald and Dolores Staggs and his brothers Ron (Susan), Paul, and Ricky (Debby).  Dennis will be forever missed and loved by his wife of 40 years, Michele Petticrew. He is also survived by his siblings Charles (Susan), Fred (Charlotte), Bill (Marilee), Susie (Dwight), and his children Autumn (Joe), Gary and Sunshine (Kevin).  Dennis was a loving, devoted, and compassionate grandfather to his adoring grandchildren Sage (Hope), Cisco, Zion, Timber-Elena, Archer, Annika, Brooklyn, Hazel, and Elam. Pappy will be missed by his numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
