Dennis Peter
Walter
Nov 5, 1951 — Nov 18, 2021
Johnson City
Dennis Peter Walter, 70, of Johnson City, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 18. He was born in Sheboygan, WI to Jerome and Gloria (Holtzman) Walter on November 5, 1951, along with a twin brother, David. He was raised on a dairy farm, where he learned to love animals, nature, and hunting. Dennis later met Brenda Hall, a southern, California transplant, who added joy and vitality to his life. What followed was a whirlwind romance. They married August 27, 1976, and just celebrated 45 beautiful years together. They welcomed their daughter, Deardre, raising her with love, compassion, and family traditions. He later became a proud, doting grandfather to Jack and Liv.
Always a hard worker, Dennis went back to school to receive his Tool and Die certificate. He later retired from Baker Industries and opened a business with his wife in Marble Falls, TX. Wherever he worked, his reputation of being a man of integrity and precision made both his coworkers and customers hold him in high esteem. He loved God faithfully, ministering to others in his quiet way. He loved deeply and shared that love generously. He and his wife helped build the Bala Orphanage in Kenya.
He was an avid sportsman, both in fishing and hunting, receiving several Pope-Young awards for bowhunting. In his fifties, Dennis decided to pursue his pilot's license so that he could fly a power parachute. He loved soaring in the sky, often taking pictures of the sunset as he flew. He loved traveling with Brenda and seeing the beauty of the National Parks. In the past few years, he loved working on their home in Texas, building and gardening with his wife. His love of animals and nature is showcased in every inch of his land and home.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Brenda, his daughter, Deardre, two grandchildren, Jack and Olivia Hill, his brother Kenny (Alice) Walter, and two sisters Sharon Barts, and Debbie (Mike) Schmidt and one sister-in-law, Linda (Brad) Gililland and an aunt, Janice Plum, along with countless nieces and nephews who loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, OJ Hall, two brothers, David and Mike Walter, a sister-in-law, Cynthia (Johnson) Walter, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Art and Cynthia (Hall) Mehre.
A memorial service will be held at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City, Texas on December 1, at 2:00pm. The Walter family warmly welcomes friends, family and loved ones to pay their respects to Dennis.
