Doris Myrtle Hartmann, 82, nee Itz, of Johnson City died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, in Hill Country Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, in the Johnson City First United Methodist Church in Johnson City with the Rev. Lee Romero officiating. A reception will follow in the Church Activity Center.
For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson City First United Methodist Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
Doris was born Aug. 26, 1939, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Ernest Itz and Sophie Lehne Itz. She married Roland Hartmann on June 7, 1959, in Trinity Lutheran Church at Stonewall. He preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 2019.
After graduating from LBJ High School in Johnson City in 1957, she earned a bookkeeping degree from Durham Business School in Austin. Over the years, she worked at Pedernales Electric Cooperative, Blanco County Sheriff's Office, Crofts Milling and Grain and then offered child care in her home.
She was a member of the Johnson City First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years.
Doris is survived by three children and their spouses, including Russell and Yvonne Hartmann, Rodney Hartmann and Sophie and Bill Dixie.
She is also survived by two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Kelsey and Levi Robison and Alyssa Hartmann, as well as three great-granddaughters, Dacey Robison, Allie Robison and Remie Robison.
Survivors also include brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and their spouses, Calvin and Sonja Hartmann, Karl and Janice Hartmann, Linda and Emil Uecker and Elsa Jordon.
In addition to her husband, parents and her step-father, August Schmidt, Doris was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Louis Itz, and a sister and brother-in-law, Earline and Leo Sultemeier.
