DOROTHY LUCRETIA SMITH
Surrounded by the love of her family, Dorothy Lucretia (Wagner) Smith, 92, of Blanco, Texas was received into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 12, 2018.
Dorothy was born on January 26, 1925 in Blanco County to Albert Paul and Winnie Muriel (Crossley) Wagner. As a teenager, she joined the Baptist Church and was baptized. At 16, she met Wilton Woodrow Smith. Dorothy loved to dance more than anything, and Wilton took her dancing every chance he got. They married in Goldthwaite, TX on July 7, 1942.
Dorothy graduated from Blanco High School in May 1943. She took the secretary and business course at Draughon's Business College in San Antonio. Dorothy and Wilton had four sons together. She worked at the Blanco National Bank, the Federal Reserve Bank in San Antonio, and as a secretary in Civil Service while they were stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. After her husband retired from the military in 1965, they returned to Blanco where they lived the rest of their lives. Dorothy and Wilton were married for 66 years. In addition to dancing with her husband, she enjoyed swimming with her boys, gardening in her prizing-winning flower beds, sewing pretty dresses for her granddaughters, and playing in the yard with her grandchildren. Her life was one of selfless devotion to her family.
Dorothy is survived by three of her sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick (Carletta) Smith of Fredericksburg, TX, Michael (Claudia) Smith of Blanco, TX, and Dennis (Cheryl) Smith of San Marcos, TX; her brother and sister-in-law Donald (Val Jean) Wagner of Tullahoma, TN; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; a dear friend since first grade, Leona Smylie; and other loving friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton; her son, Garry (died age 4); her father, Albert; her mother, Muriel; her sister, Pauline Cravatt, her brother-in-law, Robert Cravatt; and many close friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home, Blanco, TX. Service will be Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Crofts-Crow Funeral Chapel, Blanco, TX, officiated by Bill Gernenz, followed by interment at Blanco Cemetery.
