Douglas Leon Arnold, 95, of Kerrville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 4, 2013. A celebration of his life was held at Rocky Community Church Saturday, October 5, 2013, at 2:00 PM.
Douglas was born in Spicewood, Texas on October 17, 1917, to William and Allie Arnold. He married Lillian Brodbeck on June 24, 1942. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before she preceded him in death. They lived in the Rocky Creek Community where he worked in excavation and construction. He founded the Rocky Community Church in 1953. They retired to Kerrville in 1984.
He is survived by his only child, Sharon, and husband John "Buzz" Thurman of Kerrville; grandson, Cheston and wife Sabrina Thurman, granddaughter, Shalise and husband Mark Schnitz. Four great grandchildren, Bexar and Bronson Thurman and Caden and Savannah Schnitz, all of San Antonio.
He is also survived by two sisters, Ozell Glass of Leaky and Doris Nell Voges of New Braunfels; and one brother Billy Arnold of Eastland.
