Dwight Allen Brodbeck , age 75, of Johnson City, Texas, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 21, 1951, in Blanco, Texas, one of four sons of Aaron Alfred Brodbeck and Betty Jo (Barrow) Brodbeck.
Dwight graduated from LBJ High School in Johnson City, class of 1969. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science from Angelo State University, followed by a Master's degree in Education from Sul Ross State University. His academic journey continued at Midland College, where he studied Petroleum Technology. On May 27, 1972, he married Brenda Prehn Brodbeck, and together they raised two sons, Krueger and David.
Mr. Brodbeck dedicated five years to teaching in Greenwood Independent School District and transitioned to a robust career in the petroleum industry for Marathon Oil as a production superintendent, working in Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana for 33 years until his retirement in 2013. While living in Iraan, TX, he served on the school board as a member and President for the Iraan Independent School District.
A man of deep faith, Dwight was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Johnson City. His commitment to the church included serving as Deacon and treasurer and participating regularly in Sunday School, where he cherished the time spent with his church family. Dwight enjoyed time outside in the yard and garden and on the ranch tending to cattle and goats.
Dwight was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Aaron "Randy" Brodbeck. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Brenda Prehn Brodbeck; their sons, Krueger Brodbeck and David Brodbeck and his wife Alyssa; brothers, Stephen Brodbeck and wife Lisa, and Todd Brodbeck and wife Deneshia; brother-in-law Mike Prehn and wife Gina; sister-in-law Jake Brodbeck; grandchildren, Ross Brodbeck and Emma Brodbeck; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home, located in Johnson City, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Johnson City, situated at 102 N. Ave. F, Johnson City, TX 78636. Interment will follow at Rocky Creek Cemetery, located at 1324 Rocky Rd., Johnson City, TX 78636.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be directed to the First Baptist Church of Johnson City or to the ALS Association (https://www.als.org).
Dwight Allen Brodbeck will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to family, and commitment to his community.
