Obituary

"Ed" Edward Earl Crawford was born on April 9, 1952 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Herschel and Virginia Crawford.  He graduated in 1970 from Arlington High School and continued on to San Antonio College where he soon graduated with a Peace Officer's certificate.  In 1976 he moved to Johnson City where he met the love of his life, his rose, Debra.  They were married three months later in Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonewall and began a legacy that would span the next 47 years.

Ed worked faithfully for PEC for 33 years and in that time, made many friends who became family. He also served as City Marshall for the city of Johnson City and Constable for Blanco County. He was raised to the degree of a Master Mason on May 25, 1976 in Kerrville, Texas.  He then moved to Johnson City and joined the Johnson City Masonic Lodge No. 561 in August of 1978.  He was a well-respected Master Mason in Johnson City of more than 40 years.  His contribution to the Masonic Lodge of Johnson City and to the community sought the respect of everyone that knew him. He was also a very active member of the Johnson City community, having served on many boards and involved in many organizations.  He especially loved serving on the Blanco County Youth Council where he could make a difference in the lives of 4-H and FFA members.

He would quickly tell you that his greatest joys in life was being a dad to Mandi and Sheala and Poppi to Rylee, Dusti, Blaze, Seth and Sawyer.  Anytime he would hear their names or see them walk through the door, the sparkle in his eye was instant.  He was a character and never knew a stranger.  He always had a smile on his face and even when faced with knowing he was at the end of his life, he continued to smile and make sure everyone around him was doing the same.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Danna Jo, brother-in-law Daniel Tomlinson, and mother and father-in-law Clemens and Margaret Lorenz.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debra; daughter Mandi Welch and husband Chris; daughter Sheala Eakman and husband Whitt; grandchildren Rylee, Dusti, Blaze, Seth and Sawyer; sister in law Deann Dowdy (who he referred to as his "old" daughter), husband Gordon and children Chelsea (Cody) and Caleb (Summer); brother Herschel Crawford and wife Pat; sister Ginger Cason and husband Bobby; sister Nancy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Most importantly, he is survived by his favorite "children" (his dogs) Sadie and Jake who were his faithful companions.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 31st from 5:30 to 7:30 at Crofts Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City.  Services will be at the H.O.M.E.
