Obituary

Edward Robert Joseph Neunuebel , known to his loved ones as Ed, passed away on October 27, 2023, at the age of 75 in Austin, TX. Ed was born in Chicago, IL to Robert and Ruth Neunuebel. He lived in many parts of the country during elementary and high school.

Ed graduated from Morrison Academy in Taiwan, where he met his wife, Carolyn.  Following a year at Taipei Language Institute, he went on to study at Baylor University for his bachelor's degree. His studies culminated in  a Doctor of law degree at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He proudly served in the national guard following law school.

He started his career in law while at US Steel in Pittsburgh. He went on to become General Counsel of the Pacific Region at Dow Chemical in Hong Kong. He later served as Asia General Counsel for Owens Corning in Shanghai.

He worked hard and traveled the world extensively, loving his career and life in southeast Asia.  He would take his girls on adventures of all kinds, from Hong Kong to India and everywhere in between.

Ed was most often a quiet, yet incredibly intelligent character. He had a wildly inappropriate sense of humor.  If he liked you, he would let you in on his sharp wit, and you would feel honored to be the brunt of his jokes, for you knew this to be the highest form of Ed's flattery.

In his later years, Ed was a true outdoors man - he found solace in mowing grass on the ranch or watching the waves at Douglas Lake. He cherished the simple pleasures in life, spending time with his family. He loved watching the birds and the deer from his front porch while listening to music and smoking his pipe. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Carolyn Neunuebel (Culpepper), his daughters Kristin and Anna Neunuebel (husband Aaron Arguien), his stepmother, Pikuei Neunuebel, his sisters Kim and Ruthann Neunuebel and his grandchildren Bob and Norah Arguien.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth Neunuebel, his parents in-law, Donal and Charles Culpepper.

Edward Neunuebel touched the lives of many and will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, his genuine smile and his intellect. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

A memorial service honoring Ed's life will be held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at St. Michael and all Angels Episcopal Church, 218 Pittsburgh St, Blanco, TX 78606.
