Edward H. Schwab III, born on December 8, 1930 in Galveston, Texas, passed away at his home in Kendalia Texas on January 15, 2006. A fifth generation Texan, Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Edward H. Schwab Jr. and Helen Pickard Schwab. He is survived by his siblings, Robert F. Schwab,George E. Schwab, and Joan Schwab Padgett, and three nephews, five nieces,three grandnephews, and four grandnieces. Ed received his high school education at Sewanee Military Academy in Sewanee, Tennessee. After graduating in 1948, he attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. In 1951, he joined the U.S. Air Force, served two years, and then returned to Southwestern University, where he completed his prelaw studies. He attended law school at the University of Houston and graduated in 1958. He was admitted to the bar the same year and went into private practice, specializing in civil law. Throughout the majority of his distinguished forty-five year career, Ed practiced law in Galveston, Texas and served as the attorney for the Galveston Independent School District. He also served as an attorney for Galveston College. Ed was a member of the Texas Bar Association and the Kappa Alpha fraternity. An avid hunter and fisherman, Ed was a long time member of the Port Bay Hunting and Fishing Club in Rockport, Texas. His love of wild life and affinity for the Texas Hill Country drew him back to the family ranch in Kendalia, Texas, where he took up residence in 1997 and practiced law until he retired in 2003. Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kneupper Cemetery in Kendalia, Texas.
