Erika H. Fickle of Blanco passed away at her home April 11, 2023. Erika was born September 20, 1934 in Southgate, CA to Erich H. Jurgens and Myrtle Ann (Loosemore) Jurgens.
Erika grew up in Compton, CA where she later met the love of her life, Bob. The two would go on to build a beautiful family. Upon receiving her BA degree in education from UCLA, she would continue a 26-year career teaching with the Westminster School District, Westminster, CA. She was a beloved teacher and made a huge impact on many of her students' lives. Once Erika and Bob became grandparents they moved to Texas where they would retire. She was a member of the California Teachers Association, National Education Association, and American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 352 where she served as the Secretary/Treasurer for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Eugene Fickle; daughter, BobbiJean Fickle; sisters, Elizabeth Joy Gillette, Hildegarde M. Mahoney, and Myrtle M. Murphy; and her uncle, Bill Loosemore.
Erika is survived by her son, Erich B. Fickle and wife Luella, and by her daughter, Susan Jones and husband Charles; grandchildren, Justin Jones and wife Veronica, Travis Jones, Victoria Grissom and husband Patrick, and Robert Jones and fiancé, Kristen Turner; great grandchildren, Grant Jones, Scout Jones, Lovely Jones, Patrick Grissom, III, and Kinsley Grissom; and nephew, John Joseph Mahoney. She is also survived by many other loving relatives and a host of dear friends.
Please join the family for a visitation honoring Erika, Tuesday, April 25, 2023, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 26, 2023 in the Chapel of Crofts – Crow Funeral Home, 911 Mesquite St., Blanco, TX 78606.
Reception to follow the memorial service hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary at the American Legion Post 352 located at 1111 Blanco Ave. Blanco, Tx 78606.
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund is being set up to continue Erika's contribution to higher education. A donation link will be posted on the Crofts-Crow Funeral Home memorial page for Erika H. Fickle once details are finalized.
