We will never forget Evan Matthew Kuzins
Evan Matthew Kuzins , born on April 11, 2001, was involved in a car accident on January 13, 2024 and tragically passed away. While we are sad for us and we miss him deeply, we are comforted to know he was instantly at the feet of Jesus his Lord and Savior.
Evan was so easy to love and showed unending love to us with daily hugs, kisses and he made sure to never leave the house or let a conversation end without saying "I love you." He was loyal to a fault; kind and generous to all. He showed genuine compassion to the hurting and needy, especially those who struggle with thoughts of suicide. He walked with multiple individuals through their darkest days and helped them see light and hope. Evan FREQUENTLY gave away his lunch money to strangers, rescued stranded people on the side of the road, and gave of his time and resources to those he could help. Evan's life exemplified putting others before himself.
Evan started reading when he was 3 years old and became an avid reader after that; he was rarely seen without a book. He was our walking encyclopedia or google. He had a special interest in history, especially surrounding the period of WWII. As often as possible, Evan was at Camp Mabry watching re-enactments, reading every detail of each placard at the Admiral Nimitz Museum, or visiting old battle sites, planes, and tanks. He even traveled to the National Air & Space Museum and saw the Enola Gay in person. Some of our dearest memories with Evan include several overnight stays on the USS Lexington with his dad and two visits to the USS Alabama and the sub docked next to it. His habit was to shop at the Army Surplus store and he has an impressive collection of army gear, ammo boxes and even grenades.
Second to history and WWII, Evan loved cars and really anything with an engine including planes and submarines. You could find him at a car show or a "pick and pull" junk yard on his days off from work. Evan souped up his Honda as much as we would let him and fixed the muffler so anyone could hear him coming all over town. Just recently he bought a rusted out old van with plans to rebuild it and travel to the Mojave Desert with his brother, Trey.
Evan grew up in Lago Vista, TX, then moved with his family to VA, just south of Washington DC when he was in high school. Evan graduated through the Homeschool Association of VA. He studied mechanical engineering at the Woodrow Wilson Trade School in Fishersville, VA and graduated first in his class and with double honors. He then moved to Blanco, TX with his family and was employed at Ace Hardware. Evan was a member at First Baptist Church in Blanco and volunteered on the audio-visual team.
Evan was entrusted to his parents, Gary and Angela Kuzins and was the best big brother to Rebecca, Trey and CJ. Evan was a comforter and peacemaker in our home and a best friend to each of his siblings. Our home was full of laughter, joking, wrestling and hugs. Evan loved to shop and bestow gifts on us like chocolate chips and cokes on mom's pillow or GI Joe's for dad. We often came home to extravagant meals and home- made butter.
Evan was blessed to be loved by his grandparents Steve and Linda Kuzins, Gary and Becky Sparks and Andy Harris. He is also survived by his loving uncles and aunts: John, Roberta, Tina, Kaleigh, Brittney, Amanda and their spouses and children. The loss of Evan is felt by all his cousins and numerous other relatives and friends.
Evan, our sweet Punky, we will forever miss your sparkling blue eyes, genuine smile and the gigantic hugs that only you could give. Mom will miss your cheeks. We love you Evan Matthew Kuzins and we will see you in heaven!
