Obituary

Fannie Laura Warden Cox, 91 passed away on July 30, 2012, after a lengthly illness. Born November 16, 1921 in Bryan County, Calera, Oklahoma, she
married Fred Stiles Cox on July 7, 1938.
Fannie had the joy of serving with her husband in many congregations in Texas, including First Methodist in Johnson City. She loved teaching children. It was her special joy. Using her creative touch, she would decorate the chancel and other meeting places in the churches for any kind of special meeting. All of her life, she was a regular visitor to shut ins and neighbors, often with her gift of cookies.
Fannie had extraordinary talent and creativity.
From an early age she had a love for drawing and painting. As a child, she would doodle and draw on whatever she had available. As an adult, with a few classes, she learned to put paint to canvas with great detail and clarity.
She was also an above average seamstress, sometimes with just scraps, she would find a way to create something beautiful.
Even in her nineties, she still loved to cook and try new recipes. She was best known for her chocolate pies. Another specialty was homemade ketchup. It was best when eaten by itself with a spoon.
While in Cotulla, she started nursing school. Prior to being able to complete her education they were transferred to another church. She had such a passion and love for the profession, she would work as a nurses aid whenever she could.

Fannie is survived by two daughters: Jackie Jones and Son-in-law Warren Jones of Fredericksburg, Julia Schumann and Son-in-law Harvey Schumann of Hye.
There are four grandchildren: Angie James of Tahoka, Tim Schumann, Mark Schumann and Luther Schumann, all of Hye, and their families.
There are thirteen great grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchildren.
