Gertrude Peveto Whittington of Johnson City, TX passed away August 10, 2022 in Johnson City.  Gertrude was born January 26, 1936 in Goose Creek, TX to Wylie and Maye Peveto.

She met and married Desmond Jefferies "D.J." Whittington. Together she and D.J. owned and operated Whittington's Jerky in Johnson City

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Imogene Denby and Wanda Whittington.

She is survived by her two sons, Gordon Whittington and wife Catherine and Sam Whittington and wife Gail; three grandchildren, Jason, Luke, and Rilee; sister, Faye Paules. Gertrude is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services honoring Mrs. Whittington's life will be held at 10:00 AM Monday morning at Crofts – Crow Chapel in Johnson City with Rev. Ernest Topper of Johnson City First Christian Church officiating.  Gertrude will be laid to rest next to her beloved late husband D.J. in Miller Creek Cemetery.
