Hattie Lou Sultemeier was born January 2, 1925. She passed into her heavenly reward peacefully on Sunday evening, July 30, 2017. Hattie was the 8 th of 10 children. She grew up in Sandy, Texas.
Hattie married the love of her life, Joe Syd Fuchs, April 7, 1947. They spent their married life in Blanco, Texas, where Joe Syd and his family owned and operated the Blanco Locker Plant. During those years of operating the Locker Plant, Hattie was well known for her homemade bread. Hattie and Joe Syd were married for almost 51 years at the time of his passing.
Hattie was a dedicated homemaker. Her home and family fulfilled her with joy. She was a terrific cook and accomplished seamstress. Her love of gardening and flowers was evident in her bountiful harvest and the flowers surrounding her home. Even in the years she spent in the nursing home facility, there was never a time without plants in her room.
The family expresses thanks and appreciation to nurses, staff, and administrators of Live Oak Medical Center, Henry House, and LBJ Medical Center for their patient and loving care recently and through the years.
Hattie was preceded in death by her husband and 8 of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children; Dick Fuchs of Blanco, and Mary Jo Pfeiffer and husband, Roland, of San Antonio; grandchildren, Cassie Schermbeck (Tim) of Georgetown, Jodie Fuchs of Blanco, Judd Pfeiffer (Amanda) of Buda, and Bobby Joe Fuchs (Fiona) of Australia. Hattie is also survived by great-grandchildren Jacob and Sydney Jo Schermbeck and Katelyn Anne Fuchs; as well as her sister, Vera Diertert, and sister-in-law, Pat Sultemeier. Hattie is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great and grand nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers honoring the family with their service are David Behrends, Roy Finch, Steve Hill, Kevin Maddox, Glenn Sultemeier, and Melvin Sultemeier.
A reception will follow the graveside services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 703 Main St., Blanco, Texas 78606
