Hattie Ida Johnson Fuchs was born on November 5, 1909 in Blanco, TX to Clarence M. Johnson and Maggie A. Felps Johnson. She died on May 3, 2007 at 11:45 p.m. at the age of 97 ½ years. Hattie grew up in Blanco and graduated from Blanco High School. She attended Southwest TX State Teachers College, now TX State University, in San Marcos. She taught school for one year in McKinney, TX prior to her marriage to Gilbert G. Fuchs on June 5, 1930. During their 69+ years of marriage they lived at McCall Creek, Miller Creek, Hye, TX, Mena, AR, and retired to Johnson City in 1978.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mavis and Martin Lindig of Hye, TX, sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry & Sue Fuchs of Jacksonville, FL and James D. & Betsy Fuchs of Farmington, UT, and son Ronnie Fuchs of Fordland, MO and former daughter-in-law Susie Fuchs of Ft. Smith, AR.She is further survived by 29 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren and one future great great grandchild. One sister Opal Ray Peterson of Green Bay, WI also survives her.She was preceded in death by her husband on May 4, 2000, her sisters Novella Sawey, Edna Mae Fuchs, and brothers Clifford Johnson, Fulcher Johnson, and Lee Roy Johnson.Funeral services were held at the Crofts Funeral Home, Johnson City on Tuesday, May 8, 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Ernest Topper of First Christian Church officiating, assisted by Roy Newell Johnson, nephew, of Gatesville, TX. Interment followed in the Miller Creek Cemetery.Serving as pallbearers were great-grandchildren Craig Lindig, Sherrie Lindig, Stacey Weirich, Dustin Lindig, Vanessa Drimalas, Austin Lindig, Martin E. Lindig, Cole M Robinson, Chad M Robinson, Austin Fuchs, Jerod Fuchs, Emma Miller and Jenna Miller.Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Johnson City, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Fredericksburg, or to the charity of your choice.
