Helen Joyce Armke Waxler, 71, of Blanco, died May 22, 2006 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. She was born January 18, 1935 outside of Marion, Texas. Helen and her husband Clarence were married in Blanco on January 18, 1953. She was secretary/bookkeeper for Waxler Construction. She owned and managed Mobley Motel for 10 years in the 70's, and was church secretary for 7 years. She was a Blanco Panther Band Booster member for 18 years, as well as in PTA and room mother for many years. She was a wonderful cook and often took food to families in need. She was a 1951 graduate of Blanco High School at the age of 16. She was a 25-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and was the local chapter secretary for 24 years. She served as State President in 1992 during which time she chose heart research as her state charity, raising $80,000. She also belonged to the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Trinity Luthern Women's Association, Blanco Valley Grange and Bluebonnet Grange. She was a 50-year member of the Sons of Hermann. She is survived by her husband, Clarence of Blanco, 1 son, Charles and wife Terri Waxler of Blanco, 2 daughters, Holly and husband Dan Warriner of North Richland Hills and Connie Waxler of Poteet, three grandchildren, Hayley Warriner, Carlie and Charlie Waxler. She is also survived by 2 sisters; Bernice Knight of Garden Ridge and Gladys Meuller of Schertz, and sister-in-law, Nelda Haas of Blanco. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Alma Armke. Services will be Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanco. Burial will follow at Blanco Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 23, 2006 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Crofts Funeral Home in Blanco. Pastor Ofsdahl will be officiating.
