Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Lee Smith , aged 96, who peacefully departed this world on Thursday, August 8, 2024, in San Marcos, TX. Born on October 26, 1927, in Coleman, Texas, Helen was the cherished daughter of James H. and Ellie C. Myers.

Helen's journey through life was marked by industriousness and dedication. After graduating from Mozelle High School in Coleman County, TX, she pursued further education at a Beauty School in Houston. She lent her talents to various roles, from working at Revlon in Foley's Department Store to serving as a CNA at Hill Country Care in Dripping Springs, as the Custodian for the First Baptist Church of Blanco and later with Carter Florist and More in Dripping Springs.

A woman of diverse interests and passions, Helen found joy in baking, painting, and relishing precious moments with her family. Her memory will be carried by those closest to her: her daughter, Marshia L. Fischer; her son, Kevin E. Smith; and her dear daughter-in-law, Joyce Smith. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Ernest J. Smith; her son, Ronnie L. Smith; and great-grandson, J.J. Seewald.

She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and devotion in the hearts of her six grandchildren, Bonnie and Otis Carter, Billy Proske, Gwynn and John Seewald, Michael and Amanda Smith, Tuesday Darling, and Austin Smith. Additionally, Helen is survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held commencing at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 15, 2024, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco. Helen will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Ernest, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, Monday, August 19, 2024 at 10:30 AM. Join us as we honor and celebrate the enduring spirit of Helen Lee Smith.
