Obituary

Ima Jewell Roselle (nee Wiechmann)  was born in Fischer Store, Texas on March 12, 1926.  She passed peacefully at the age of 96 in San Antonio on February 16 th , 2023.

At the age of 10, Ima's family moved to LaCoste, Texas.  Ima attended school at LaCoste High where she earned the 4H highest honor, the Gold Star, for home décor and furniture restoration.  After high school, Ima attended business school in San Antonio, which led to her becoming an assistant auditor for the Blue Bonnet Hotel. This became a starting point for her lifelong occupation of managing hotels, motels and restaurants throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

After two months and three days of courtship, Jack D. Roselle of Austin proposed, and they were married on June 21, 1946 at the Grace Lutheran Church in San Antonio.  Reception followed in the Studio Room at the Blue Bonnet Hotel. Ima and Jack were inseparable and managed hotels as a couple until their retirement from the business in 1981, when they moved back to San Antonio. After retirement, Ima worked in the community by volunteering at the Blue Bird Thrift Store where they collected and sold items that generated funds for the Methodist church and hospitals. Her sewing skills came in handy, as she would take damaged clothing items home from the store and repair them for resale. She was a long time member of the Saint Mark's Methodist Church of San Antonio.

Ima took after her mother, and was an accomplished self-taught artist. She enjoyed sewing, and while in Oklahoma, made impressive Native American style clothing for her hotel personnel, as well as decorative crochet items.

Ima could always be depended on to provide cheerful support and companionship to family and friends. She took care of her mother as she aged as well as her husband during his lengthy illness.

Ima was predeceased by her parents, Olga Wiechmann( nee Fischer) and Gerhard Wiechmann, her husband Jack D. Roselle, her older brother Gordon Wiechmann, and her younger brother Wesley Wiechmann.  She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Bonnie Beeson and husband Douglas, Patricia Allison, Leslie Wiechmann-Roddy and husband Bill, Debra Haile and husband Robert, David Wiechmann and wife Cristina, Andrea Beidl, and husband Richard, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
