Obituary

James Lawrence Biggs was born December 5, 1947 in El Campo, Texas. He lost his five year battle with Alzheimer's on December 13, 2018 in Dripping Springs, Texas, at the age of 71. He is survived by his wife, Jan Biggs and daughter, Amanda Biggs of Johnson City, Texas. His sister Carla and George White of Granbury, Texas; his sister Nelda and Steve Brasher of Driftwood, Texas; nieces, nephews and in-laws: Robert White, Michael White, Charles White, Karen Freer, Jennifer Wilson, Nichole Jones, Melanie Wingo, Lacey Jaeger, Camran Marek and the extended Marek Family. He is preceded in death by his parents Lutene and Carl Biggs, and his daughter, Jodi Lynn Biggs and his son, Christopher Lee Biggs.

During high school James excelled in many sports especially Track & Field. He graduated from Taft High School in 1966, and then ran track for Texas A&M the following year. He served with the US Army in Korea, 1968-1970. Soon after he completed his service in the army he returned to Taft, Texas where he met and married Jan Marek on November 27, 1970 in Portland, Texas. James graduated from Texas A&I University, Kingsville, Texas in 1974. He began his 30 plus year career as an oil and gas accountant for Exxon Mobil in Corpus Christi and Houston, Texas, retiring in 2011.  James enjoyed fishing on his boat in the costal bend waters.  He also loved golfing with his friends and even enjoyed building his own golf clubs.   After his retirement James and Jan moved from Kingwood, Texas to Frisco, Texas in order to be near their children Amanda and Chris.  They were members of Plano First Baptist Church where they attended with dear friends.

Graveside services will be Saturday, December 15, 10:30 am at Miller Creek Cemetery. The Biggs Family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Alzheimer's Foundation at https://fundraising.alzfdn.org .
