Obituary

James Kenneth Greenhaw passed away on April 19, 2013 surrounded by family in the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio, Texas after battling cancer for 11 years.

James was born December 16, 1944 in Austin, Texas to Jarl Edward Greenhaw and Sibyl Mary (Connell) Greenhaw.

James served 2 years in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He married Zoe (Goehmann) Greenhaw on February 28, 1969 at the First Baptist Church in Blanco, Texas. They lived in San Antonio where he worked as an electrician for 4 years. In 1973 James and Zoe moved back to their hometown of Blanco where he continued working as an electrician and plumber for over 35 years. While working and living in Blanco James met and befriended many people. He worked with the youth in the County thru the Blanco County Youth Council and served as a director for over 20 years. He became a director of the Blanco County Fair Association in the 1970's where he enjoyed the time he volunteered with other family and friends. He enjoyed barbequing and helped with the Blanco Volunteer Ambulance Corp and Blanco County Youth Council fundraisers for many years. He took great pleasure spending time with his family and attending his grandsons many activities. He enjoyed making his wine that he claimed would make you "10' Tall and Bullet Proof", fishing, and spending time with his close friend, Clifford Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jarl and Sibyl Greenhaw, Grandparents Bill and Ruby Connell, and Brit and Lillie Greenhaw, and parent in-laws Chester and Pat (Birck) Goehmann.

James is survived by his wife of 44 years, Zoe (Goehmann) Greenhaw, daughter, Carla Greenhaw of Blanco, son, Daymon Greenhaw and wife, DeAnn (Buie) Greenhaw of Llano, Texas, daughter, Jami Greenhaw of Blanco, and four grandsons, Trey Greenhaw, Bradly Greenhaw, Kegan Greenhaw, and William Hourigan. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley (Greenhaw) Sieckenius and husband, William "Billy" Sieckenius of Uvalde, Texas and his brother, Jerry Greenhaw and wife, Susan (Cochran) Greenhaw of Blanco. He has also been blessed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, supportive family and friends. Pallbearers are Trey Greenhaw, Bradly Greenhaw, Kegan Greenhaw, William Hourigan, Will Sieckenius, Shane Sieckenius and Brian Gaskamp. Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Bryant and Jim Raby.

Visitation will be held at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Blanco, Texas on Monday, April 22, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with services at the First Baptist Church in Blanco, Texas on, Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 10:00 am with burial following at the Miller Creek Cemetery.
