Obituary

Janet Ford Fisher , a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and artist, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 28, 2026, in Blanco, Texas. She was born on September 30, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, to Frank and Ruth Ford.

Janet was a guiding light in the lives of many, known for her spitfire personality, creative abilities, and sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her cherished son, Naron "Bubba" Fisher, as well as her son-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" Hostetler, and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Vradenberg. She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and resilience.

Janet is survived by her two daughters, Peggy Hostetler and Priscilla Ford, as well as her son, John Hickman. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Rick Ford, daughter-in-law, Donna Schmidt, her sister Doris Ford; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, a nephew, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She will also be lovingly remembered by her cherished friends and her beloved Chow, Taffy.

A passionate artist, Janet was honored to study under renowned artists P. B. Kime and Dalhart Windberg, and her artistic spirit flourished through her love for painting, particularly inspired by her visits to New Mexico. Janet actively participated in art shows, judged various competitions, and generously shared her talent through art demonstrations and classes for local organizations. She also loved sharing and teaching her artistic gifts with her grandchildren and friends.

Janet celebrated 40 years of sobriety in March and dedicated much of her life to helping others struggling with addiction. Her devotion to her church in Luckenbach, Texas was a testament to her strong faith until she was no longer able to attend.

The family will host a visitation on Friday, July 24, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco.
