Janet Ilene Matney passed away Monday, April 7, 2025 at her residence in Blanco, Texas.  Janet was born October 4, 1942 in Rosalie, NE to Frank Jenkins and Octavia (Potts) Jenkins.

She was raised in Dakota City, NE, graduated from high school in 1960. She received her nursing degree from Western Iowa Tech and began her career as a LVN in 1975. Janet later moved with her children to Texas in 1979.

Janet loved to go to the beach, read, eat good food and spend time with her family and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Octavia Jenkins.

She is survived by her children, Brett Matney and wife Nelda, Teri Brown and husband Larry, Ernest "Bass" Matney , Melissa Woolsey and husband David, and Matthew Matney and wife Dawn; and two sisters, Nadine Stevens and Sherry Preston; granddaughters, Sarah Blackmon, Maggie Mae Kennedy, Abigail Matney and Eden Matney and great granddaughters, Kaylee, Allison, Riley and Reese
