Obituary

Janice Lea Theriot Hambright , born October 28, 1961, in Port Arthur, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of Gene Allen Theriot and Dorothy Lou Buchanan Theriot, born at Saint Mary's Hospital.

Janice shared 40 devoted years of marriage with her husband, Randy Hambright. Together they built a loving family that continues her legacy. She is survived by her two sons: Stefan Hambright and his wife Ashley, along with their son Finn; and Ross Hambright and his wife Annette, along with their daughters Cora, Reese, and Quinn.  Together, Janice and Randy raised their two sons with deep love, taking an active role in every stage of their lives.  They were a constant presence at school events, activities and milestones and took great pride in all they pursued.  Their pride carried into Stefan and Ross' college years, making it possible for them to achieve their educational goals.

Janice is also survived by her sister, Julie Lynn Theriot; her brother, Gene Allen Theriot and his wife Diane; her aunt, Sandra Stowers; and her uncle, David Buchanan and his wife Peggy. Janice leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.  Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Dorothy Theriot.

Janice loved her family and friends deeply and wholeheartedly. They were the center of her life, and she took great joy in every moment spent with them, whether in laughter, conversation, or quiet togetherness. Janice loved and cherished her grandchildren.  She found immense joy in the time spent with each of them. Her love was steady, generous, and unconditional, and it will continue to be felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Janice held a deep love for Johnson City and the many wonderful people who call it home. Her life was marked by generosity, compassion, and a quiet commitment to making the world better for others. She believed strongly in paying it forward—sharing kindness, offering support, and passing along knowledge to anyone who could benefit from it. Janice loved her time working at Johnson City ISD, where she built meaningful connections with both students and staff and found great joy in being part of their daily lives.

Her family and friends will remember her as someone who gave freely of her heart and spirit, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Janice will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The family of Janice Lee Theriot Hambright wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the love, prayers, meals and support shown during this difficult time. A special thanks to the doctors and staff at Baylor Scott & White Oncology Department and the staff at New Century Hospice.
