Joe Dean Calhoun of Blanco, TX passed away Friday, September 20, 2024.  A native of Blanco County, Texas, Joe was born March 31, 1940 to Robert Cecil Calhoun and Leona Bell (Jennings) Calhoun on the family ranch.

A life-long rancher, Joe was involved with the livestock industry in many different aspects throughout his life.  He devoted his life to the show lamb and livestock industry, becoming a renowned figure not just in Texas, but across various states for his expertise in livestock .

Mr. Calhoun was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Hazel (Gourley) Calhoun; brothers, Bob and James Calhoun; sister, Bonnie Wood; and nephews Kevin Calhoun and Cole Calhoun.

Joe is survived by his three children, Harold Calhoun, Lori Calhoun, and Lance Calhoun; brother, Gene Calhoun; four grandchildren, Bryan Heller, Russell Grant, Krista Grant, and Cassie (Calhoun)Maenius; great grandchildren, Landen, Hazel, Bailey, Madilyn and Izabella. Joe is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco where funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM.  Joe will be laid to rest in the Blanco Cemetery next to his late wife Hazel.
