John "Johnny" Edwin Oehler of Fredericksburg, TX, passed away from pneumonia on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024.
He was born on Sept. 1, 1943 in Luling, TX, to the late Milton and Angelica (nee Redlin) Oehler. He was a 1962 graduate of Fredericksburg High School. At his maternal aunt Martha Wiesepape Kruse's recommendation, he attended the culinary school in Big Springs, Texas, and became a professional baker. He worked at different bakeries in his career. Some of his favorite and most memorable were the Piccadilly Cafe, Austin, TX, and Dietz's Bakery, Fredericksburg, TX.
Oehler was outgoing and easily made friends. He enthusiastically told stories and jokes. He also liked watching sports like baseball, football, and world wide wrestling. Oehler had fun cooking for play off parties. He was also an animal lover and befriended strays.
He is survived by his four sisters: Jeanette Oehler Dibrell of Indiatlantic, FL; Meta "Kathy" Oehler Bendele of Hye, TX; Judi Oehler Hall (and husband Joseph) of McKinney, TX; Virginia "Ginia" Oehler Bruno (and husband Randall) of Dublin, TX; and 6 nieces, 3 nephews and their spouses: Andrea Dibrell Dunn (and husband Rick) of Melbourne, FL; Brian Bruno (and wife Kristen) of Ft. Worth, TX; Christine Bruno Bretthauer (and husband James) of Medina, OH; Martin Hall of Dallas, TX; and Molly Hall McWhirter (and husband Will) of Fairview, TX; Nichole Bendele of Hye, TX; Charles Allen Bendele, II (and wife Kylie) of Loyal Valley, TX; Kelly Bendele McCrea (and husband Clayton) of Mason, TX; and Chris Bendele Perrenoud (and husband Bret) of Johnson City; and also 7 great-nieces, and 6 great-nephews.
Arrangements made by Crofts - Crow Funeral Home. Memorial service and interment were privately held on Nov. 10, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery, Fredericksburg, TX.
