Juanita "Teet" Hobbs, 94, of Johnson City, Texas, died Sunday, December 28 at the LBJ Medical Center in Johnson City.
Teet was born to the late Lora and Albert Herwig, on August 21, 1920, near Miller Creek in Blanco County and lived almost her entire life in and around Johnson City. She is predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Ernest Hobbs, her daughter Bonnie Mae Hobbs and her son, Lyndon Hobbs.
Teet is survived by her daughter Ava Didway and son-in-law Junior Didway and daughter-in-law Adelia Hobbs Felps. She is also survived by her four grandchildren and their families: Jimmie Hobbs and his wife Amy and grandchildren Garrett and Madison Hobbs; Trey Didway and his wife Maria and grandchildren Ethan and Carson Didway; Jennifer Hobbs and her spouse Laurie Arbeiter; and Leah Sine and her husband David and grandchildren Logan and Walker Sine.
Teet was an active community member and business woman in Johnson City throughout her life, as well as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always supported her family. She owned and operated numerous businesses in Johnson City, ever evolving and growing as the town grew and changed over the years. She was also active in local political campaigns (from L.B.J.'s early days and J.J. "Jake" Pickle's numerous campaigns to countless local Sheriff and other races), and could often be found at a local coffee shop talking politics and sharing the events of the day with her many friends. She loved to hunt and fish, play bridge with friends and, most of all, spend time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the North Blanco County EMS at P.O. Box 557, Johnson City, Texas 78636.
A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City. Burial and a brief graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 31 at the Miller Creek Cemetery outside Johnson City.
