Kay Lillie Loughrey, 75 of Austin and formerly of Blanco, Texas passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 24, 2017 surrounded by her 3 children. She was a devoted wife and mother born on October 29, 1941 in Watertown, New York to George and Marion Lillie. She married John Joseph Loughrey in 1962, he preceded her in death in 2000. Kay worked as an office manager for Trinity University in the athletic department for many years. Kay was known for being a great cook and working wonders with her sewing machine. She was an entrepreneur early in life running her own alteration shop; "Kay's Nifty Needle" in San Antonio. And in her later years she was a heck of a tractor operator taking great care of the little piece of Texas that she and John picked out for their retirement. After John passed Kay devoted the next 12 plus years to serving her church and community.
She is survived by her 3 children; son Michael Loughrey and wife Tracy of Austin, TX., Daughters; Colleen Parker Gonzales and husband Michael of Cedar Park, Tx., and Christine Loughrey of Rockport, TX. Grandchildren Jacob & Katie Parker are Colleen and Michael's children and Faith Loughrey and Courtney Trevino are Mike & Tracy's kids. Brother Dick Lillie of California and Sister Brenda Donato of New York.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday the 29th of March at 11:00 am at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Blanco, Texas. A luncheon to follow at the church hall.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Cancer Society.
