Obituary

Kennard Ellis "Buddy" Johnson beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on April 15, 2015 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Buddy was born to Louie Effie Duncan Johnson and Jesse Ellis Johnson in Petronilla, Tx. On the Chapman Ranch on March 10, 1927.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Louie Johnson and his son-in-laws Harlow Kibbe and Mike West.

Buddy is survived by his wife Susie Johnson of nearly twenty years. His brother Wayne (June) Johnson, children Debra West, Susan Kibbe, Paula (Dwight) Knoll and Dean Johnson. Also, survived by his Grandchildren Clint (Gina) West, Sarah West, Ross (Stephanie) West, Justin (Fawn) Kibbe, Hayley Kibbe (Grady Engelking), Lacy Kibbe, Nicole, Emily and Sebastian Coates, Katy (Garrett) Jordan, Aubrey (Dennis) Moore and 15 great grandchildren.

Buddy spent his childhood years in Flour Bluff, Tx. Where he enjoyed fishing the bay with his dad and making memories growing up with many cousins. Buddy joined the Army in near the end of WWII on July 18, 1945 where he served 2 years in Germany.

After his service he worked with his father in construction. In 1950 Buddy began working his 29 years employment with Humble Oil and Refinery Co. and retired from, what is now known as ExxonMobil in 1979. Buddy has always had a workshop where he enjoyed spending his days. Most often he would be involved in remodeling and construction of the latest family home. Buddy always had a beautiful yard and garden that he worked in, skills he learned from his mama. In his later years Buddy began wood carving. He and Susie enjoyed traveling to many carving events held in nearby states, making friends with folks they continued to stay in touch with.

Buddy belongs to the membership of the Blanco Masonic Lodge #216. He was a member of the Lyons Club in Premont, Tx. Buddy enjoyed being involved in the community. He talked of the fun he had working on the preservation of the Old Blanco County Courthouse.

He was a strong contributor to the construction The Gem of the Hills, again contributing by volunteering in the building and continuing to perform maintenance when need.

He was a faithful and life-long member of the Baptist church.

He used his construction expertise in churches he attended and took part in their building programs including the latest construction at the Blanco Baptist Church.

For years he and Susie delivered Meals on Wheels. He also, was president of the Blanco Good Samaritan Center. Buddy was a very generous person contributing to the needs of many people as well as families passing through Blanco.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Blanco United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Blanco Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Justin Kibbe, Clint West, Ross West, Sebastian Coates, Dean Johnson, and Walker Kibbe.
