Kristine "Kristy"
Lee Sorkness
Apr 4, 1949 — Dec 4, 2025
Blanco
Kristine Lee Sorkness, lovingly known as "Kris" or "Kristy," passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at her home in Blanco, Texas, at the age of 76.
Kristy was born on April 4, 1949, in Mt. Morris, New York, to the late Kenneth and Evelyn (Bryant) Winans. She cherished her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. To know Kristy was to feel her nurturing spirit—she had a unique ability to offer comfort, strength, and grace to everyone she encountered. Her compassion, diligence, and quiet perseverance touched countless lives.
Kristy's memory will forever be treasured by her husband, Richard "Rick" Sorkness; her daughters, Tricia (Crandall) Stolle and husband Travis, and Erin Crandall; her stepson, John Sorkness and wife JoJo; and she joins in peace her late stepdaughter, Sara Footlander. She is also survived by her sister, Pamela "Pam" Chiverton and niece Kori Gutowski; her brother, Kevin Winans, and his wife, Karen, along with nieces Kenzie and Kami, and nephew Kyle.
Among her greatest joys was being "Gammy." She was a deeply loved grandmother to Britton Stolle, and to Lilah, Brodie, and Millie Rae Sorkness. Time spent with her grandchildren was one of the brightest parts of her life, and they adored every moment shared with her.
Kristy earned her bachelor's degree in speech therapy from SUNY Geneseo, graduating magna cum laude. Although she began her career in speech therapy, she later discovered talents and passions that led her into interior design, eventually retiring from a successful career as a legal administrator. Her love of travel blossomed during her marriage to her first husband, Robert Crandall, whose military service allowed them to live abroad and immerse themselves in the cultures of Japan and England—experiences that stayed with her for a lifetime.
In 2013, Kristy found love and companionship with Rick, whom she married in 2015. Together they embraced life fully, sharing passions for golf, travel, and simply enjoying each other's company. For more than 30 years, Kristy called San Antonio home, where she excelled professionally and created lasting memories with her family. In 2019, she and Rick moved to Blanco, settling into their "forever" home on a golf course and continuing to grow in love and in the life they built together.
A celebration of Kristy's life will be held at a later date with close friends and family.
Kristy will be remembered for her warm heart, adventurous spirit, gracious soul, and unwavering love for her family, pets, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
May she rest in peace.
