Larry James
Liesmann
Apr 13, 1949 — Nov 23, 2021
Blanco
Larry James Liesmann of Blanco, TX passed away early Tuesday morning November 23, 2021 in Austin, TX at the age of 72. Larry was born April 13, 1949 in the courthouse on the square in Blanco, Texas to Percy and Lorene (Koch) Liesmann. He graduated from Blanco High School in 1967. He was proud of his time in Vietnam as a troop in the U.S. Army. He was a "lineman for the county", climbing telephone poles for Southwestern Bell (AT&T) until he retired. After retirement he took up goat ranching and "piddling". In 2010 he survived an extremely rare bone cancer, a story he loved to tell everyone. His love for hunting and fishing almost preceded, but could not surpass his love for his kin or his love for food. He also deeply valued Sundays at Trinity Lutheran Church and the hugs he shared with his church family. He will always be remembered for his smiles, goofiness, and quirks.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Alma Lorene Liesmann; and his wife Mary Jo (Paske) Liesmann.
He is survived by his three children, Katie Liesmann (Daniel Moser), Brandon Witzel (Nicole), and Adrienne Witzel; sister, Kay Walker (Allen); three grandchildren, Bo, Thomas, and Robert Witzel.
Visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 703 Main St., Blanco, TX 78606 with Rev. Dr. Bobby Leggett officiating. Western attire is requested. Burial will follow at Twin Sisters Cemetery, followed by a reception at Old 300 BBQ for Dad's favorite "fatty brisket".
