Obituary

Lenn W. Crider, 68, passed away November 1, 2016 in Pipe Creek, TX.  He was born December 2, 1947 in Fredericksburg, TX to William Walter Crider and Mary Aline Gourley Crider.  Lenn was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Oscar Wayne Crider and his sister, Patricia Ann Crider.

He is survived by his children: Amber Aline Crider and Shawn Amberg, Brandi Lee Felts and husband Eli, Mandi Jene Crider, their loving mother Kelli JoAnne (Hansen) Crider, Diane McClure and husband Billy, Don Crider, Bret Perrenoud and wife Chris, and Heather Ritthaler and husband Brian; twin brother Glenn Crider and wife Leslie; grandchildren: Tina, B.W., Cole, Emilee, Westin, Shelby, Kaydince "Kadi-Bug", McKaylenn "Munchkin", Lily and Campbell; great grandchildren: Beruke, Alex, and Chris.  Lenn is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends whom he loved dearly.

Lenn grew up on the banks of Grape Creek in Sandy, Texas where he was raised with a humble country upbringing.  He and his twin brother were more than a little bit mischievous and have a bond that is unbreakable. Together they rodeoed and honkey tonked across the United States, shared their love and talent of managing ranches, and enjoyed their time spent outdoors.

Lenn was an avid outdoorsman and, true to his selfless nature, his favorite way to experience the outdoors was to mentor others. He introduced his kids to hunting at the home place in Sandy, guided countless hunters at the Diamond K Ranch, and traveled the western states with his good friend, Jeff Kent, in pursuit of their favorite game, Rocky Mountain elk.  He shared a special bond over hunting with his daughter, Brandi. His favorite hunting memory was of Brandi harvesting her first archery bull elk in Montana last year. He was blessed to have spent the last 18 years living his dream working on the ranch.

His talents were endless. He was particularly beloved for his fiddling, singing, and stories. Lenn was a champion of old time country music. He loved twin fiddles, harmonies, and his heroes were Ray Price and Bob Wills. He especially loved listening to his son, Don, play the steel guitar and never missed an opportunity to brag on Don's exceptional talent. Lenn was a talented fiddle player, and he shared many great memories playing music and living "the night life" with good friends and family. In recent years, he played less frequently, but he had such a loyal following that people traveled across Texas to hear him play.

Most of all, Lenn was an exceptional family man. He raised eight children! Two of the greatest days of his life were when his daughters were born.  When Amber, his oldest daughter, was born, he carried her so often that the doctors were concerned she would be delayed in learning to walk. He was beyond elated when, a month before their arrival, he found out that he was having identical twin girls. He always said, "the only way to go through life is being a twin".  He shared his passion for history with Mandi and flew her around the area to visit museums.  While visiting Mexico City, he opted to take a nap on the sidewalk rather than making it through the entire museum.  In recent years, Lenn relished in the role of being Paw Paw.  He could often be heard saying, "I sure do love them grandkids" while sneaking them powdered doughnuts or "num nums".

Lenn's amazing spirit enriched the lives of an enormous number of people. He never met a stranger, and whether you knew him for 5 minutes or your entire life, you knew your life was better for it. Lenn's legacy will live on in his family and his many, many friends.
