Leroy W. Petri of Johnson City, TX passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 in Fredericksburg, TX. Leroy was born December 19, 1945 in Blanco, TX to Ernest and Clara Bindseil Petri.
Leroy graduated from Johnson City High School in 1964. He proudly served his country for two years in Vietnam with the U.S. Army as a Teletype Engineer. From 1970 until his retirement, Leroy worked for the Bamberger Ranch in Johnson City as the Ranch Engineer. He was also known as "King of the Road". He operated his own heavy equipment and construction business while ranching throughout his life. Leroy enjoyed his work so very much and he could fix anything. He made many friends while helping them improve their own ranch. He truly left his mark on this earth.
Leroy loved the outdoors, fishing, and going on adventures with his family and friends. He always enjoyed a gathering at the home place and some of his favorite times were vacations spent with family and friends.
Leroy loved being a cowboy, showing off his cattle and certainly did not mind sporting his pearl snap shirts, blue jeans, and boots.
Leroy will always be remembered as a loving and faithful son to his parents. He would always lend a hand to anyone in need or who just needed a friend. Leroy will be remembered for his smile and giving heart. He will be missed by everyone and our memories of Leroy will be filled with love and laughter of a kind and loving man.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Clara; sister (age 5) Clara Ann Petri; and brother August Petri.
He is survived by his brother Ernest Petri, Jr. and wife Nora; sister-in-law, Judy Petri; nieces and nephews Lydia Pool and husband Ricky, Stephen Petri and wife Julie, Matthew Petri and wife Katy, Fred Krauser, Sharon Sewell, Alan Petri, Cecil Petri; Leroy is also survived by numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the Blanco Historic Cemetery with Rev. H. Lee Romero officiating.
