Obituary

To know Linette "Shea" Burch was to truly know the unfailing, unfaltering love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was patient beyond natural measure, kind beyond compare, continuously forgiving and always willing to be there. Whether you stepped into her office or called her on the phone, Shea Burch did her best to make you feel at home. She shared her love of Jesus through the way she lived her life, striving daily to be better… more and more like Christ. She will always be remembered for the way she made us feel but ultimately for showing us… GOD'S LOVE IS TRULY REAL.

The deepest desire of Shea's heart, to have a more intimate relationship with our heavenly father was fully realized on January 3, 2021 when she was called home to be with the one whom her soul faithfully loved. Fully healed and completely restored, all of heaven is rejoicing at the return of our beautiful mother, daughter, sister and friend.

Shea was born on January 14, 1970 to Arthur and Charlene Burch, in Austin, Texas. As their youngest child, she was the surprise that they didn't know was coming and would forever be grateful for. Even as a young child, Shea enjoyed spending time with elders, listening to their stories and soaking up the wisdom they could provide.  Her parents were her heroes. They taught her everything they knew about how to love herself, others and most importantly God; showing her the beauty in hospitality and the grace in humility.  Ever inspiring her to reach for greatness without sacrificing her character, Art and Charlene believed in the best for Shea and spent the span her lifetime covering her in love and support. Along with her parents, Shea shared a unique and special bond with both of her siblings.

Born 7 years after her older brother Clif, Shea would soon transition from his youngest sister to his biggest advocate. Always willing to impart wisdom and love through sharing her life experiences, Shea enjoyed spending time with her brother and encouraging him to become everything that God designed him to be. Sisters by blood but best friends by choice, Tammy and Shea were a sight to behold. If you ever had the pleasure of spending time with them together, the love that they had for each other was not only evident but invincible. From the beginning, Tammy was sure that Shea, whom she lovingly referred to as "my baby", was born just for her. In the years to come, as their relationship flourished, Shea would prove that Tammy's intuition was absolutely true. Tammy and Shea spent their time laughing with each other, sharing their secrets, building each other up and expecting each other to grow more and more in their relationship with God as new opportunities were presented. The bond between Shea and her siblings flourished throughout her lifetime and the evidence of her impact will never be forgotten.

Like a tree planted by streams of water, the fruit of her life is fully flourishing, realized in her daughter Shelby Lynn. Although her life here on earth seemed short to most, it was filled with lessons that will last for generations to come. Shea took pride in raising her daughter to be the type of woman that God Himself would be proud of. Ever the provider, planner and protector, Shea did everything in her power to ensure that Shelby would never want for anything. Her desire for her daughter's success went beyond financial stability and permeated through levels of mental, physical and spiritual clarity. Shea taught Shelby how to see people as they are, looking beyond the life situations that may have shaped an individual's adverse behavior; giving them the benefit of the doubt and praying into the truth of who someone could become if they allowed God to shape their heart. She also taught her daughter to be thoughtful, constantly looking for opportunities to selflessly bless others even when if the very person she wanted to bless chose not to treat her with the same respect. She taught her to be open to the ideas of others and to always be willing to learn, grow, improve and expand the limits of her expectations of herself. Always willing to have fun, be silly and try new things, Shea also taught Shelby not to take life for granted, realizing that life is worth living out with joy on purpose. With as much joy as she received from the friendship she built with her daughter, nothing could compare to the love and joy she experienced through the relationship she had with her grandchildren Cash and Zoey. Her eyes lit up to the tune of their laughter and the smiles on their faces as they begged "Grammy" to watch them dance, listen to their stories, go on walks and play with them. Shea's favorite past-time was cuddling on the couch with Cash and Zoey and watching a good movie while eating a handful of kettle corn. Arguably, next to Jesus, they were the loves of her life. There was nothing that she would not do for them. No matter how hard she had to work or how many hours she had to put in.

Shea always had the desire to have more children and she was elated when Shelby became best friends with Andrea; going as far as adopting her (and her mother) as her own and welcoming them into the Burch family with open arms. Through vacations, holidays, birthdays and the like the Burch family (both immediate and extended) enjoyed the love of God through the presence of his daughter Shea.

Shea believed in God's ability to stretch you, break you, build you, and make you into everything He originally designed for the blueprint of your life. She believed in God's will. She trusted God's plan and that trust eventually led her to Jivel Tousand Ministries. Through the tutelage of Jivel's teaching and guidance, Shea developed a closer relationship with God in her latter years than she had ever experienced before. She grew in her understanding of His heart and began to enjoy the freedom in her ability to express her love for Him. As a spiritual daughter to Jivel, whom she loved with all her heart, she spent much of her free time taking classes and learning how to better serve the Lord. Following in her daughter's footsteps, Shea was a member of the Discipleship class of 2021 and was set to become an ordained Prophetess in December of this year.

Planning to retire in September of 2021 from the Texas Department of Public Safety after 25 years and pursue ministry full-time, Shea's experience with the department fostered such love and comradery that she would commonly refer to her co-workers as her extended family. Many a sisterhood was formed on the floors of DPS over paperwork, projects and deadlines. To some, she was a Manager who, through the gifts of leadership with accountability, integrity and grace worked her way up from an entry-level position to a place of authority; however, to most, she was simply a sister and a friend.

Truly sent by God in an effort to give people insight into the capacity of His love and the truth of His willingness to go through the fire; showing us the necessity of salvation and the fragility of human life, Shea was willing to give God everything to allow Him to do what He saw fit. The joy of the Lord was truly her strength. According to the word of God, only what we do for Christ will last and the lasting effect of Shea's life will be felt and remembered through the lives of those she loved.

John 14:2-3 (KJV) says: "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

Oh what JOY it brings to know the Lord!! Shea's place was prepared, her arrival anticipated and when Jesus called her up to join Him, her journey was celebrated.

Shea is survived by her parents Arthur and Charlene Burch, brother Clifton Burch (Sandra), sister Tammy Burch, daughter Shelby Sifford, grandchildren Cash and Zoey Weeder, daughter (in her heart) Andrea Jackson, nephew Luke Colbert (Jenna), great nephews Damian, Xander and Ezra, spiritual family - Jivel Tousand (spiritual mother), Lanaya Hayes (spiritual sister) and a host of aunts, cousins, family and friends who loved her dearly.
